1-13-2008 Good morning

Today I have a full day of rest ahead of me to include watching the U of O basketball game on TV. Didn't sleep to well again last night, hope to soon, my right arm is slowly feeling better. The pain from the surgery is a little more than I expected.

I might get to go to a Rehab facility by the end of the coming week. I'm sure it will be pretty boring but I have to go to rest and heal before I can come back to Sacred Heart for more intense rehab in 4-6 weeks. The old bones they heal so slow. It actually will be nice just to get a change of scenery. I am hoping to get into one of the facilities that will be in the north end of town as it will be handy for my family.

Hopefully with a little more rest I'll be able to see some of you who have been so patient. I really would like the visitors I just have been to tired from this whole ordeal. I am getting better each day.

Go Ducks.

Thanks for your thoughts, Ed typing for Marta.

Marta,
I'm so glad to hear you are doing well enough to move to a rehab facility. It is hard to rest in the hospital, always wanting to come in and poke on you every couple of hours! I'll be watching to see when you can have visitors. I look forward to seeing you Chicken!
Take care and enjoy the Duck game!

Lots of hugs!

Jennifer

Hello M,

I've got that wine chilling and it won't be long until we are sharing a glass.

Take care and rest up. I miss you, but get great updates from Em and Mike.

Love, Shari

Hi Marta,
So glad you may have a change of scenery soon. I'm sure the next few weeks will be boring but you have always been such a little ball of fire now its your turn to rest. That and hard work on the rehab is the only thing that will make you better. Its not so much that the old bones heal slowly as it is the body needs the time to heal. Also the mind. I know you want to see all the visitors but please don't rush it. they are your friends and they have waited this long, They will wait for you cause you for sure are worth it. We love you and will keep praying for you. Aunt Kathey and Vern

Hi Marta and family,
We are all pleased to know your surgery went well and you'll regain the use of your right arm! What a relief it must have been to take your first shower, I'm sure even the smallest normalcies bring you great pleasure (like the Ducks winning yesterday.) I've been keeping Brett in Corvallis and Darryl in S.Carolina informed about your progress (Darryl took off to work on the Obama campaign -he's organizing about 300 civil rights lawyers to be present at voting stations during the upcoming primary to reduce apparently well known irregularities there!) At any rate, we appreciate hearing about your progress and think of you and your family regularly. Ed, make sure to take care of yourself too.
Sincerely,
Candy, Darryl, Brett Larson

Way to go Marta! It's near impossible to get any rest in a hospital let alone trying to get that needed rest following surgery and when you have casts everywhere.

Although exhausting, I'm sure that shower was the most wonderful thing. Hopefully the wheelchair ride happened and it was enjoyable.

Old bones? HARDLY! It's only been 3 1/2 weeks - give it some time and look how far you have come in that short amount of time.

Hang in there - the rehab facility might be boring and it sure isn't home but I bet you make the best of it. Some how I don't think they are going to let you just rest all the time - I'll bet they have plans for you.

Take good care girl - you can do this!

Marta - so glad to hear of your progress - came by the other day to see you - you were resting - left a "little Lucy" (stuffed) with the nurse until the "real" one can come visit. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Love you -Nancy P
