Friday, August 29

Good Morning, Ed has gently reminded me that I haven't sent out a blog since last Monday.

Not too much to report other then good news from the physical therapist (Don) at Sacred Heart.

I see Don for the legs and had not seen him for three weeks when I met with him this past Wednesday. He couldn't believe how well I was walking (with and without the cane) and put me through a bunch of mobility tests (balance, walking up and down stairs, walking around a set of cones, timed me for speed). I'm happy to report that I passed all of the tests with flying colors. So.... I'm done with that phase of therapy. I'll check in with Don in a few months to see how I've progressed.

Still seeing John the leg guy each week and am trying to get used to the newest prosthetic leg. This has been a tough one for me in terms of comfort, balance, occasional back pain, etc. More work to be done.

The right wrist remains the same. I'll be scheduling surgery to remove the 6" plate early to mid September. Cross your fingers on this providing me a bit more range of motion.

Ed is good. Kids are fine. Emily will turn 21 next week. She will move out to her own place mid September. Michael has been out since the first week of August. My brother will be out for a visit mid September so I'm looking forward to that.

I have a couple of volunteer possibilities in the hopper for the fall so that should be rewarding. This going from 0 to 60 in terms of work to retirement has been a huge adjustment.

As always thanks for your interest and support in my recovery. We're into the ninth month since the accident and I am very grateful for how far I've come.

Fondly,
Marta B.
